How far to the airport

Hi guys,

Possibly a bit of a random question, however with the prospect of moving to new surroundings etc I thought I might ask how feasable it would be to still live within London (Putney) if based at LHR/LGW for example?

Do most pilots find that with the flight roster that they're required to be as near to the airport as absolutely possible?

I live very near Putney..............Im based at LGW
The missus works out of LHR, its no problem for either of us :ok:
