Hi all,

I have a flight booked with Monarch Scheduled (ZB) from London Luton Airport to Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) on Monday 19th June 2006, outward only.

Does anyone know what type of aircraft is scheduled to operate this route??

Many thanks in advance,

Cheers.:ok: :ok:

Probably a B757..but could be a 320/321:ok:

Yeah, I think it might be a B757-200, just looked on the flymonarch website and the aircraft seating plan for my route, looks like a B757-200, due to the seating plan. Deffo not a A320, due to where the emergency exits are located.

As you said most likely a B757-200, as this was the type that operated this route last summer.

Cheers. :ok: :ok:

Unless it changes, you'll be flying on G-MONC (B757).

Cheers OpsSix.

Can't beat the B757, even if some of them are a bit worn and torn, let's hope G-MONC is not to old!!

Thanks again,

Cheers. :ok: :ok:

MONC was number 18 off the line so yes....it's old !

Just a bit old then!!

Let's hope it gets me there!!

Must explain why there was no extra leg room seats available when booking, apart from the usual emergency exit seats.

Cheers. :ok: :ok:

Anyone know the general condition of Monarch's 757s.
I flew on G-MONJ last summer and that was the newest in the whole fleet, however others in the flight are 5 years older.
Would they use a newer 757 on the MAN-Kos route.

G-MONJ recently returned from a round the world flight with some very wealthy punters on board - each pax paid in the region of $48000. The aircraft was refitted with plush carpets and leather seats. http://www.flymonarch.com/monline/images/RTWplaneinterior700px.jpg
I believe G-MONJ in the above congfiguration had 92 seats but don't get your hopes up as it has now been reconfigured to the usual Monarch seating.
Most airlines vary seating configs according to charterers demands and route demands at the beginning of the season.
Monarch's 75's are at the moment in a mixed config accross the fleet to allow for flexability. This includes a 213 config G-MONJ and G-DAJB, 219 and 235 (although I can't remember specific Reg's - sorry).
The 757's are all maintained to an extreamly high standard and are extreamly flexible and robust aircraft. The 757 gets my vote every time if its between a Boeing and an Airbus. :ok:

Monarch still has NB within its fleet of 7 x 757's. All the aircraft rotate around the bases for seat requirments and maintanence requirments. At the moment NB is operating out of Manchester I think!

Well my flight is on a 235 seated 757 so excludes G-MONJ and G-DJAB.
Looks like im going on one of the golden oldies.
The interior of G-MONJ on photo looks lovely, why can't they keep it in similer style to that on the photo.

Due to future contracts I believe that G-MONJ will remain in the above configuration as of November next year

Any interior shots of Monarch 757's ?
Ive seen G-DJAB on jetphotos, that is all.

Urgh!!! Ican't remember the config of NB - sorry. All the 757's have the same interior just a different number of seats.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Well here goes there are only two B757 seating configs used for non exec operations and that is 235 for IT and 213 for Schedule.
Some flights will be 235 for schedule and some IT at 213 but the norm is as above.
The 219 seating is not used any more, was used to align with the A321 cabin fit, the A321 seating now is at a 214 seat cofig and the B757 to 213.
The two B757s at 213 seats is correctly stated as G-DAJB, but not G-MONJ, it is G-MONE.
G-MONJ should be used again around October or November in the nice exec fit, for a few more around the world trips, as this aircraft is 180 minutes ETOPS.:ok:

Sorry Mr @ Spotty M I promise to pay more attention when I get back from leave

180 minutes ETOP's ?
G-MONJ is currently based in Manchester at moment, just wondering how long they will keep this at Manchester before they rotate their a/c again.

Yes Tommyinyork G-MONJ is equipped for 180 minutes ETOPS.
G-MONJ will move around the bases throughout the summer, it was at Luton only yesterday.:ok:

The Monarch 757's are coming up to 25 years old, any idea when they will be retired and with what ? I guess Monarch must have the highest timed and cycled aircraft in their fleet !

All we know is that the people at the top are looking at replacement options. The company has looked at both the 787 and the A350 but taking into account that the A350 is no longer who knows what the company is thinking. I dare say we will be told in due time but we will probably find out from the aircraft cleaners within the next couple of weeks. I beleive the interim aircraft will either be the A330 or more 767's :ok:

Tommyinyork

I would be guessing Monarch may look at more A321's or more modern 757s.
However i can see the 757s having about another 2 years, more modern ones G-MONJ/K possibily 5 or 6 as these are 5 years newer than the rest.

Monarch still as I percieve it get good serviceability out of these old aeroplanes (757s). Good to see NB in service- saw her delivered at LTN in 1983 when my then wife was pregnant with my daughter. She's just graduated!!!

Apparantly these 757's are still reliable and rarely go tech.
Would love to see what the older 757's look like inside.
