I was in Mudgee on the weekend and noticed a number of passenger jets cruising over. I figured the roughly north-south tracking aircraft were likely to be Melbourne to Brisbane flights, but I also saw a number of east-west tracking aircraft - what would have been the origin/destination of these aircraft?

Sydney, it's a major outbound route, via Richmond or there-a-bouts.

Everything out of SYD off to SE Asia or NT, northern WA, and far north QLD (depending on RAAF wargames).

It's also the Melbourne - Bris/Maroochy/Cooly route. Jets out of Canberra to points north also go through there. The southbound routes to Melbourne are further to the west, and the Bris-Canberra stuff goes overhead Sydney and then into Canberra.

Cheers,

NFR.
