Hope someone can help?

Looking at the model of say an A340-600, with ref to external features how would you know it was a -600 (apart from it being longer and having Trent engines) and not a -300?

I've been wondering the same thing. Also wondering about external differences between 777-200 vs. 777-300 ? Anyone have any input?

600 has 5 doors instead of 4.
Not sure if all 600's are the same, but no bulk cargo door.
If your model has the gear down, the centre gear has a 4 wheel bogie which should be presented with the front wheels hanging down as opposed to the main landing gears where the rear wheels hang down. 300 has a two wheel centre landing gear.
Depends on how detailed your model is but the 600 has a tail stike detector, looks like a little radio aerial under the rear fuselage.

Mach75 the 773 has 5 Emergency Exits per side (just look for one over the wing) whereas the 772 only has 4.
Katooie as for the 600 the easiest way is with the engines, although the models do have their gear down. Just look at the last half; if it has cowling the whole way it is a CFM56, if not it is a Trent 556. We are talking 340’s here as the Trent 772 on the 330 has full cowling too.
If you want to be a real :8 the 600 has greater sweep.
Good luck with it. :ok:

Not sure if all 600's are the same, but no bulk cargo door CX is like that as the Crew rest area is where the bulk cargo area is.
VS don't have a crew rest area there but have the bulk cargo bay instead.

777-200/300 the other thing that sticks out is the tail skid.

Don’t forget the Ground Manoeuvre Camera System fitted to the 300 (one on each side of the horizontal stabilizer and one on the belly)!
Also the tail skid goes up and down with the gear so you may not see it if the wheels are up.
The 300 was made bigger by inserting two fuselage plugs, one forward (10 frames at 210 in) and one aft (9 frames at 189 in). :8
Wasn’t one of CX aircraft originally fixed with non-RR engines and used for testing?
Oh and Mach75 no doubt you know this, but the new 773ER will have GE’s, not RR’s like all the other 777’s at CX.

Also, the -300 tends to have A340-300 written on the rear of the fuselage wheras the -600 has A340-600. :hmm:
