Whats the score (price as well) in doing an IR in the states and what the procedure with changing it to a JAA one when you come home:confused: :confused:

"changing it", not quite as easy as that. i think having an FAA IR gives you some hour credit towards the JAA IR, but thats all, you still have to do the training (on a twin turbine, or the B206 at norwich?) and pass the skills test.

and.. you need a JAA CPL, and... the 14 ATPL (or 9 CPL) exam passes before that.

in other words. it aint easy. see previous threads on this subject. i am just summarising.

If you get FAA IR you only need to do 15 hrs to get JAA IR instead of 50 - hence if you can get an FAA IR for less than the cost of 35hrs at home (which we all know you can) you'll save money.. and have an extra qual to boot. I know quite a few people who have done this.
I'd say $8-10,000 for the IR in the states

Thats exactly how I understood it.
But you do need to pass the ATPL's to gain one!!!!!! But the conversion is much cheaper than from scratch in europe.
