Hi guys.

I'm currently working for a charter airline out of Manchester. I've been doing it for 3 years and now really want to get into corporate work...

I've been looking for some time now but not really coming up with anything apart from middle east operations. I really like the sound of Netjets, however they are not recruiting until the end of 2006.

Does anyone have any advice for me, it'd be much appreciated. I'd prefer to stay in the north west but probably would relocate in the Uk.

Thanks in advance.

Most corporate companies do ask for a minimum of first-class experience. You can sometimes by-pass that requirement if you are mulit-lingual or if you have silver service or perhaps experience on private yachts or something similar.

I would suggest putting yourself forward for some freelance work through some agencies and see if you can pick up some experience that way. Corporate flying is a totally different type of work to commercial, and if you only have charter, then it is even more of a difference.

It is by no means a walk in the park. There are no perks in the sense of cheap flights etc. The only thing you can get are hotel points and airline miles which take a long time to accumulate. You are resonsible for cleaning the aircraft from tip to toe, including washing dishes, scrubbing floors and cleaning toilets. The hours can be long and arduous and you are on your own mostly with male pilots.
HOWEVER.... the crew are great, the passengers are, on the whole, lovely people and there is plenty of "positioning" which is a breeze! You may even meet the odd film or pop star! The flights are rarely full, but when they are, be prepared to work very hard! Then last but certainly not least, the rostas are normally great (unless you are with a private operation) and the salaries are far superior to commercial and charter! :D

Once you are in you will never go back....unless you are destitute!!!

Hope that helps!
