Has anyone else heard the "rumour" that at a recent Managers Meeting it was put on the table to remove the 1st Class privaleges (Lounges and seating on ALT or Sub-load tickets) for all Captains and their families.
Apparantly some of our newer Managers within the Group are becoming quite upset that pilots (although senior to them in the group based on Employee numbers) are "bumping" them from 1st class travel.
Now in the last 3 years EVERY hint of a reduction in our T and C's has come true and here we have another one.
Can anyone else shed some light on this, as once again it is not just us but our families who take it up the hoop:mad:

They will of course erode our T&C's at their leisure, however the problem is leave tickets etc are contractual, which makes it a lot harder to change,
Saying that history has shown that the non-operational management will try to sh*ft us at every opportunity

Hey Boyz, check this out. My 2 kids and I on business ID. I meet an F/O with whom I have flown with on a few trips previously, also on ID. Flight is full, waiting waiting, my kids get on and he is left behind! Say no more ... how can my kids have priority over a collegue of mine. Whats more, what makes my kid a better or more well behaved person to fly J class because Dad is now a cpt? Obsurd.

For pete's sake mate if you felt that strongly about your poor colleague you could have so very easily gone back to the check-in counter and given your kids boarding cards / seats to your F/O friend....so much for that.

Everyone knows the "rules", such as they are, for travelling subload...you win some, lose some, happens everywhere.

gatvol2006,

You have very kindly presented the problem, 4 standby passengers, 3 seats.

So what is your solution?

Just amazing,

I actually feel sympathy for the more intelligent Emirates pilots who post on here. They give a good argument and more importantly they make sense. BUT, only to be destroyed by inebriated posters like gatvol2006.

Gatvol2006, you come across like a hip hop artist who wears his hat, God forbid, sideways. Please just write, and then drink.

Flew on ALT recently. Out of Dubai I was upgraded to First as seats were available, but was told new policy that Lounge entitlement was only to Business Class as that was the booked status. Check-in clerk was very nice about it, showed me an e-mail that instructed them to do this due to 'overcrowding' of the First Class lounge.

Have no idea if this is a temporary measure. Maybe it will change once the new terminal is completed?

Perhaps someone can tell me what the VPs are entitled to?

May be we should all carry around the company approved newspaper article about Captain America and point out we are all treated like V.P. shttp://web.syr.edu/~jocarey/Destination/images/Captain%20America.jpg

For a start the spelling is "ABSURD" (not Obsurd) If you and your family commited to that place earlier than your f/o then maybe you are entitled to the upgrade and he get left behind , that's the way it works. There has to be a system in place and you should be aware of it if you work there . My kids might bump you off some day so it works both ways. Have fun

Am I right in thinking that grade 9 positions are manager positions in EK. This means as told before that First Officers are managers. Grade 9 positions are allowed Business Class travel. Captains are grade 10 positions. Therefore allowed First Class.

The JUNIOR manager who suggested (if not a rumour) this would be well advised to visit a Proctologist. We come to this job as qualified people the same as the junior management. We put the time in and get the priviledges. I have been bumped before by a more senior rank who was not a pilot.

If this priviledge is taken away then I really think this will cause big problems and huge resentment amoungst an already very dispondent pilot force.

Just a thought, if there are seats available in First, there should be space available in the lounge?

Dr,

Just a thought, but maybe the Company works on an 'average' for all the OTHER flights that depart around the same time...........unless there's a lounge for each individual flight!

VP get the same priority code on their ALT as Captains and also get the JC lounge only. The FC lounge now is only for SVP and above. The priorities codes changed a little while back and now ALT has a higher upgrade priority than duty travel.

Latest is that Captains' children and their accompanying parent on ALT tickets are NOT entitled to use the lounge. Therefore if both parents are travelling with children; one will be given lounge access whilst the other (as the company has decided even up to 16 years of age the kids cant be left alone) must wait outside.
A further reduction in conditions and this one costs the company nothing.
How can they seriously expect the "usual cooperation" from us when they continue to grab at conditions that save them nothing?

As far as I know, we were never entitled to 1st class lounge on an ALT.

Confirmed Business seats with Business lounge pass, upgradable to first seats as available - for Captains

Confirmed economy seats and no lounge pass, upgradable to business seats as available - for F/Os

That makes perfect sense if you sit down and think about it. As for the rumour about no lounge passes for the wife and kids traveling on ALT, very bad if true.

What about the old rumour of 2 ALTs since they've restricted the primary leave to only 3 weeks......

Because they can! What can we do about it?
I can't remember the last time I actually had time to visit the lounge anyway. It's normally a 2 km sprint to the gate, with kids, and no baggage on arrival..

If you ever do try to stick the kids down the back to make room for a mate then all that will happen is you or your wife will have to go back there as well to look after them(unless you craftally booked them as unaccompanied, and totally ignored them at checkin) and then the next in line for the upgrade will get those seats. That could well be a frequent flyer upgrade or full fare eccon pax etc etc, you or the guy behind the desk has no say in the matter.
