A HUNTING trip for Tasmania Deputy Premier Bryan Green nearly ended in disaster after a light plane crash yesterday.

Mr Green had flown to remote Prime Seal Island, near Flinders Island for a weekend trip with friends.
He and another passenger were shaken but unhurt when the plane they chartered came down heavily just after take-off from the island yesterday.

"Mr Green had been enjoying his hobbies of scuba diving and hunting during the the long-planned weekend he had funded personally," the State Government said in a statement late yesterday.

"Although his departure from the island was delayed, he intends to be back at work Monday."

Also on the plane was one of Mr Green's advisers, long-time hunting lobbyist Guy Nicholson, and the pilot, who was not identified.

The uninhabited island has been associated with several incidents.
The body of a fisherman was found there after the Margaret J fishing boat tragedy in 2001. In 1993, four people escaped injury when their light plane crash-landed on the island.
