Hi BAH friends,

There was a report on the BBC web this morning about a bomb in Adliya last evening. Not much detail:-
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4108990.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4108990.stm)
Nobody hurt, thanks to our God (whatever we name Him ;) )

Strikes me it was either:
Someone who wanted to give a scare, or to get publicity, with a "flash-bang", or
Someone who didn't know how to put together a pipe-bomb "that would explode", but intended to cause some serious injuries.

From the fact added later today that it was "in an empty street", sounds like it was probably the latter scenario.

As I'm currently "back across the causeway", I checked the GDN web site for more detail, but not even a mention.

Anything on the "rumour circuit?

Exxy

BTW - did a search on the web, but nothing came up - possibly a bit early for that - but I would doubt that the BBC would be carrying the story for at least 12 hours if it was misinformation
Nothing in Khaleej Times, But Jazera (online) mentions it, with the same report attributed to "Government Agency"

Update from a "friend, with a friend in the fire service"

Seems it was a "flash-bang by design" - all gone quiet now. Just somebody trying to "make themselves heard"!

Hope it stays that way, I'm trying to wangle a trip next weekend:ok:

In such way that...

Actually, it did make the GDN. It was in on Thursday and although it was a tiny blurb with limited details, it was there.
