Johannesburg - Three SA Airways planes were isolated and searched on Wednesday morning after warnings that there were bombs on each plane, said the Airports Company South Africa (Acsa).
"Information was received from the police about 11:50 to the effect that there were bomb warnings on three SAA aircraft," said Acsa's Solomon Makgale.
"Two planes were from Durban International to Johannesburg International, and the third plane was from Johannesburg International to Durban International."
Makgale said emergency procedures were activated immediately and the fire and rescue teams helped to isolate the aircraft, before police conducted a search.
"All three aircraft have been cleared and no bombs were found. This incident had no impact on airport operations."
Two of the flights had already landed, and the third flight was due to land five minutes after the warning was received, said Makgale.
He said passengers who were on the last flight were frightened, but that the situation was handled professionally.
The flights affected were SA 550, SA 544 and SA 546
