To Liver and Onions
It "seems" [according to the BBC] that the Chinese are using livers taken from executed convicts for transplants into "Western Recipients". The Beeb also reported that for [I think/stand to be corrected] $34000 a "Chinese Citizen" could recieve a liver.

I can't believe this has suddenly become news in Blighty.

This practice has been going on for years.

When I lived in Hong Kong (from 1992-1996) the going rate was around 20,000 USD for a kidney in Guangzhou. The guy that wrote/drew Lily Wong -- a satirical cartoon strip in the South China Morning Post -- was fired for referring to the practice.

Yes, Angles, I remember the cartoon.

Guy was picking a liver from a line-up of prisoners in the same way as you pick a fish in a Chinese retaurant.

""My wife didn't want me to run this cartoon. She was afraid that it would be a self-fulfilling prophecy. It refers to the alleged trade in bodily organs of executed prisoners, a touchy topic in China.""
