I keep hearing a song from the seventies & I call upon the assembled excellence of Pprune to identify it.

I think it may be Neil Young, or Crosby Stills Nash & Young at least & It has definitely got partial droney chords in it, with a mid tempo, shuffle feel - the chorus is a singalong & goes na na naaaah na na na, na na naaah naa na. Got it??!!

I can only remember one line, something about a horse with no name, a house with no name??

I reckon that's enough for the geniuses in here, so help me please!!:(

Sounds like A Horse with no name, by America.

It's "A horse with no name" by America. But you are right that it does sound like Neil Young.

On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

Iíve been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
ícause there ainít no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see Iíve been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
ícause there ainít no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After nine days I let the horse run free
ícause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with itís life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love

You see Iíve been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
ícause there ainít no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

There is a mobile phone service that will identify music - just dial 2580 and hold your phone up to the radio - the elves that live in the ether will text you back with an answer.

Great for cheating at pub quizzes

Dah dah dah dah dada dada dah dah ... drop a third and repeat.

It's some kind of stadium anthem thingy. No words, as far as I know.

Ever have the experience of finding out the actual words of a song are different than what you always thought they were?

Here's a good site to put on your favorites tab.
