Just a thought with the holiday season about to begin, thousands of flights will leave the uk for the hot spots of the med and beyond, and very soon we shall get to hear and read about a flight that has to land and disembark passengers who have been causing problems for the cabin crew through drink or shear lunacy. with the A380 about to enter service and up to 800 seats occupied the probability of this happening must be high are there enough airfields which could accept this aircraft on such a diversion

Its a good point, on long haul most diversions are for medical reasons, it was put forward once of twice that an aircraft of this size might justify a trained nurse on the crew as part of the cabin staff. As far as airfields go, most airfields can accomodate large aircraft in an emergency, they may not be able to provide pax services etc, and it may block ramp/apron access to other aircraft. The 380 has already been to Iqaluit for cold weather tests, this airfield would very definately only be used in an emergency.
