View Full Version : Defending Captain Overtime (The Raving Loony Thread)

Hi All

Just wanted to defend Captain Overtime (COT) - he has not joined on a larger salary package, he and his family (of DE's) are now working for a certain UAE carrier and he wishes to deny that DE Captains are getting more.
I took a personal peak at his contract.
His contract is as follows

AED 24500 per month (Flat rate AED 400)
No pay rise in 7 years
No yearly increment
No Housing
No Utilities
No Medical Coverage
Never Goes Sick
Can be terminated without notice - He assures me this will never happen.
No Overtime (remember to work out just how many of his family are working in the airline he fly’s the regular block and gets the regular leave)
Takes six weeks leave a year but never gets paid for it
No tickets home
No Family therefore no Schooling or medical add ons
He works about 735 hours per year ( holidays taken and by an extraordinary coincidence is the exact number of hours a line Captain would work annually if no overtime was achieved) Hence this is why he is paid AED 24500 per month.

By the way COT ranks in the top 5 nationalities employed after all he and his extended family - all DE Captains- are being recruited at a very fast rate.

He said also said he wanted a pay rise, but cannot work out what would be a fair rate- can anyone help?

Now he has one complaint - a number of you- you know who you are taking his work- the monthly hours you were told you were working on your contract or verbally versus the number of hours before COT gets paid represent a complete loss for his revenue- so he thinks he works an average of the first 10 hours each month for free.

So no more complaints about work conditions COT needs help on his conditions before us- but what can be done?

Now a final note from COT- he wants to get as many of his family on board ASAP- and you can all do your bit to help - he said you know how.He also claimed that another distant relative is working for the carrier- FOT. He said if that can be proven between the COT's and FOT's they will rank top in their numbers. Ridiculous I said!

Is that a thribble or a 'tribble'? Weren't those the small furry toupees running around in the first episode of Star Trek?

I thought I'd join him coz I have no idea what he is on about either!

I think it is something to do with how people working overtime are helping out the company and saving them from employing more pilots. Seems to be missing the point that overtime isn't voluntary- we get rostered it and work it if we want to or not. Assuming he is talking about EK that is....

Or it could just be 42

Is there a faint whiff of Hazrail emanating from Looking for Overtimes' post? Perhaps making a return from his early bath on the 'Administrator' thread.

Always ready to go into print on PPRuNe, Hazrails' choice of subject has historically been irrelevant as his real agenda is to be contentious and as a result to create an opportunity for a bit of mud slinging.

I might be wrong, but the timing and the variations in style of writing within the post suggest that this is Hazrail attempting yet another comeback.

I believe it must have been CAT III - because CAT I and CAT II never got anywhere close enough to earth to see the white mice... :p

See, see the perfect sky
Marvel at its big pink depths.
Tell me, ivor do you
Wonder why the camel ignores you?
Why its foobly stare
makes you feel hard.
I can tell you, it is
Worried by your sncharbath facial growth
That looks like
A light.
What's more, it knows
Your erectile potting shed
Smells of pea.
Everything under the big perfect sky
Asks why, why do you even bother?
You only charm noses.

Thank f**k I left my babel fish at home and have absolutely no idea what you are going on about 145. Sounded something like 30% pay rise and 6 months profit share!

Then again I am on my 4 glass of wine and Trillian wants to know if I want to go for dinner at the restaurant at the end of the universe. I said yes, tripped and fell in a worm hole and ended up with Slartibartfast telling me that AS was actually from Magrathea and trying to make cash to pay off his new planet purchase by stitching up the pilots at Emirates.

Does this count as an outbreak of morale?

And to further add to this threadjack: :)

Which one was better the old BBC HHGTTG mini series or the recent movie?

As for me: The old series wins hands down:D

Keep discovering - Thanks ;)
As for HHGTTG - my favourite quote still is:
"HOW TO FLY:
There is an art, or, rather a knack to flying.
The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Pick a nice day - and try it.
I've tried so often - and always failed! :{

All makes perfect sense to me. It's about the hairdressers and telephone sanitisers getting more money than the guys in the left seats

Done that before and wondered how and why I sent out what I did.:) :)
