the London Evening Standard today reports that Manchester Airport plc has donated £174,075 to the Labour Party. Why? Why?

The paper goes on to point out that 55% of the company is owned by teh Labour-run Manchester Council, with the remainder held by other councils in the area, most of which are also Labour-run.

Sleaze under this Government just broadens its reach with every passing month...........

Its not sleaze until all political parties commit themselves to stop accepting donations from anyone.

MAN PLC make donations appropriately because the Labour Party happens to be the predominate ruling body at all their airports, if the Conservitaves were in power, they would get the cash.
MAN PLC bought Humberside Airport and it's massive debts, at a time that the majority shareholder was Humberside County Council who wanted to offload the burden upon the local taxpayer, and MAN PLC desperately needed support for runway 2 at MAN - who was the MP for Hull? John Prescott.

MAN PLC toook on Humberside Airport and miraculously got runway 2 at MAN - I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

Twas ever thus and ever will be.
