The well-liked and much-respected Werner Voss was a mere 19 (and captain of his Fokker Dr1 triplane) when he was shot down and killed on his final flight where he, flying alone, kept 6 or 7 of Britain's finest pursuit pilots at bay (attacking and holing most of them in the process, not using opportunities to escape) for 10 minutes.

That happened over 90 years ago, and impresses me a lot more.
