Situation:

Initial class 1 medical requirements for astigmatism is 2.00, renewal is 3.00. My eyes are - Left: +2.75 and right: +2.50. So they meet the renewal standards. Iv heard in some cases the doctor would be fine about handing out the medical if they met the renewal standards.

Im 16 (17 in 2 months) and in a situation of really needing to know if i can get the class 1 medical so i can complete the training and obtain the f/ATPL.

Im in the middle of a RAF application which is why i really need to know if i could get the medical. (will book a medical with the CAA pritty soon i gues) If i can then its keep working at the suppermarket for 3/4 more years, if not then its off to the Royal Air Force.

At the end of the day ill need to go to the CAA and find out for sure but i just wanted peoples expirience of this situation.

Telephone the CAA medical department to discuss it (their number should be on http://www.caa.co.uk) (http://www.caa.co.uk%29), but if I were at your age and already so close to the renewal limit, I would be rather concerned about going over the renewal limit before too long. The investment, both financial and mental, required to gain a professional licence is substantial, and you don't want to find yourself in a situation of losing your medical soon after you gain your licence, for example.
