The Airbus Chief Pilot has put in his resignation.
Any truth in the rumour that he is the first of twenty for the new Jetstar in Australia?

Hi All,
Is it true that the CPA is leaving is not because things are bad at EK (they have never been better-NOT!!) but rather because said individual was HEAD-HUNTED :} :} :}

I dind't think this sort of thing was still going on in PNG. More likeley in Germany. If they are going to eat him then at least he had been well marinaded. http://www.ferris.edu/htmls/news/jimcrow/children/cannibal.jpg

That's one farewell party I won't be going to.:hmm: I'll leave it at that. As my Momma always said "If you don't have anything nice to say..."

(Would like to see a big send-off for LL though!:ok: )

I posted this elsewhere but will put here as well. LL has been asked to stay until end of this year now due to upper mgmnt's short sightedness. He happily accepted

I don't think the real reason for CPA departure will be posted here but he is definitely being looked at by many other operators to join their ranks. No matter what anyone thinks of him personally, a CP title from EK can't hurt his options with other outfits from their viewpoint. Of course that's a matter of personal opinion as well!

I heard he'll be going native...
Reason is his ozzy visa requirements.

CPA leaving EK to join Etihad as the new Flight Operations Manager.
First of the top level management desertions?

Hardly "top level" in position or performance...:hmm:

Good luck to him; clearly has bigger nads than some of those whining on this forum. If true however we've lost CPA; FMA is on a limited contract and havent heard from him for ages; same is true about AS. A346s cancelled; bus skippers asked to go to 777! BA retirement increased to 60 which scuttles AS's plans, and a meagre (one might even say piss poor) result from USA and OZ on their recruiting drives. 1 x 777 delivery every month for the next 3 years and 1 x 380 per month from early next year for the following 4 years. Recruitment barely keeping pace with resignations. This was in hind sight a good city and job 3+ years ago; what the F#@*'s happened!

Mack Truck,

The following link leads to an article about the Sky Scraper Index. Its a bit of a read, but I think you will see it explains what is happening in Dubai.

Hypothetical question Don! Too many words in the article when compared to the number of heinekens in my chiller. Well aware of whats happened; I've lived through it, although a relative newcomer to Prune.

Best of luck to the CPA as he embarks on a new journey and may he have better management types listening to him than at EK. GN is a good bloke but unfortunately his bosses run the place like its their own takeaway joint. They keep taking away all the loyalty, trust, hard work and integrity of the pilots it's no wonder we are in such a cluster f*"k now. To have the balls to look elsewhere and go is as good as giving these guys the finger(s)!! Think I've gone past my used by date here and as they say it was good while it lasted (up till 18 months ago). Good luck guys and no shame in following GN's lead!! ;)

I guess it is official now, and longer a rumour as he posted a letter on the crew portal.

I see that he also like the other 97 guys who have resigned in the last two years is also leaving for personal reasons that have nothing to do with Emirates.

The other rumour I heard is for the aspiring FOs that they are about to change the crossfleet command upgrade system and allow eligble people to go across for a command and no longer this seating in the right hand seat for six months and then...

For the rest of us not in a need of a command, the increase will be 10% and 4 weeks

Well, thanks to the Prune, we were all informed long ago, also I never realised that Etihad calling were personal reasons. Now come on this rumour buster is factual, we knew he (and LL) were on their way weeks ago, AND G N wont be going too far, he thinks we don't know, come on matey. Wonder if it is the recruitment set up for a secure poach from EK? Why are pilots from overseas in the ME, he with the biggest purse buys the boys, simple fact, its the cash and EK aren't doing too well at the moment. We shall see, it won't take too much more pressure to really set up a good fleet of static display airbuses, and boeings.

I've been wrong before but I would by surprised if he stays in the Gulf. His family is in Oz and I would have thought that has more to do with why he is leaving than a trip to Abu Dhabi!

40%, 7 weeks!

18th Apr 2006, 05:40
Told you 2 weeks ago already..

He'll be going native. Apparently he'll get a high management function with AirNuigini, enabling him to go and live in Australia to fulfill his visa requirements.

Can not believe the Ethihad rumour.

+ 100 Airbus crews, poached , but Etihad will pay their rent so they dont have to move from Dubai , they will have to drive an hour to work though, or half an hour at 200/kph.

Heard a rumour of quick upgrades being promised at Etihad for guys with lots of Bus or Boeing time.

Can anyone confirm?

EKPrisoner

Its true and they will need them as EK park them Etihad will use them the leasing companies will be happy and EK will become the Gulf Air of Dubai while Etihad thrives on good policy and management..............

Nice doesnt cut it in the ME. This is old scool management. Stick and carrot. The more stick you give the boys the more carrot you get for your retirement bonus. Then one day you are escorted from your office and kicked out to retire with the other ex EK directors...

I wish him welcome, and if he does just one good thing for the pilots he will have more than the others. Welcome...

I dont blame them. I would probably do the same. Sad but true. Its a question of which side of the fence you sit on...

Yes..that our new Ed...VP Fleet

Is he VP of a specific fleet (i.e. 777 or Airbus) or of the overall fleet?

While at NWA he had a reputation as being a straightshooter to the pilots, hopefully that continues on with you guys.

Any idea how to contact him?

Etihad's newest employee, the EK Chief Pilot Airbus is now quite open about the authorship of his resignation e-mail advice that was sent to all EK pilots.

Apparently TCAS wrote the whole thing.

A politburo approved PR release...
