While we're on the theme, whats your favourite marking system?
This will probably only go the way of the Ford/ GM debate but hey we might learn something. What I'd really like to know though is what is it about your favourite system that you DON'T like and if there are any features on your wishlist, what are they?

i.e My favourite is the AgNav. I like the interface. Love the moving map and customisable settings. Its Navigation features are lousy however and I wish it could do multiple A-B's like the Del Norte.

I found the Mark 1 Freehand simple to use and the results a joy to behold with some blue coloured chemicals from Monsanto

The Agnav is alright, hopeless for navigating like LLD said.

Would be nice if you could take a piece of each unit you have used and put your own together. The agnav is not bad gear, even better I'm told with the new soft wear update and Fuzz, if you can't stand the heat in the kitchen then get out!:hmm:

Satloc seems to be the most popular-will be interesting to see what happens after the merge with Del Norte

Big N, how long has the merge been on the cards for, makes sense to me, its only a limited market and its not like every second bloke on the street would be in the market for a guidence system. Most aircraft I have flown have units that have not been replaced in years unless removed for repair and lets face it,for the price, who would want to.

Wag- very simple but hardwhere sum what unreliable
WAG 2000- BETTER except for the big crazy disco on your bonnet
Trimble- cheap compact unit seriously lacking features ie cant save jobs
AG NAV- as above(previous posts) and also cheap
Satloc- very good once your used to it, but costley
Del Norte- only had limited experiance but also very good ,(The most expensive?)
But now I dont really care because it so much better now that they all work generally with out DGPS subsciptions so everything is so much more reliable than what it was 7-8 years ago!

The merge is a done deal - in the Agair update a while ago there was an article all about it
Dont think it matters which one you have they all let you down sometimes

Ahh you havent lived till you have flown a UTS ags 3 system.....gotta love them aussie inventions :} And the best part is the manufactureres tell you waht you wanna hear but the problems continue and comes back from repair the same as it left with "cant duplicate the problem on the bench" oh plus and airfreight bill..:}

Sure none of them are perfect and they do all let you down from time to time, but the Satloc would have to be the pick IMHO.
Press the pattern button till you get to the pattern you want, press the wpt key (if you are in the right route) till you find the waypoint you want etc etc, they seem to just have a logical way of operating them.
The Agnav is the pits (if you are used to Satloc anyhow) having to find "F" keys by feel in the dark, with a piece of cloth over the screen because you can't dim it enough to stop blinding yourself, the lightbar is too bright for nightwork, and the angle lights work opposite to Satloc.
Agnav seems to be designed by computer nerds, though the firenav system looks interesting with a datalink between aircraft, looks much like a virtual radar with each aircrafts position mapped on your screen incl. their previous drops.
Forgot to ask what you think of the new style Satloc light bar?

UTS would be good if they listened to the changes the pilots would like.

Even the gear they use in their own surveying planes is behind the times and about 10 seconds behind the plane!
