where the Queen is understood to maintain a small fleet of jets

I see the Times IntOs and spooks have rumbled the secret fleet of jets based at the secret London airfield. Interesting too, to hear that HM has revived her WW2 role. I can just see her now, sleeves rolled up, hands black with oil, wielding a spanner on one of the secret jets.

Bet she'd have a thing or two to say about LEAN.

Still makes me abolutely sick that Bentley Priory is to be lost. The home of the Battle of Britain. Our freedom is owed to the acts of The Few, all managed from the magnificent Priory. To put this into perspective, The Millennium Dome wasted around £1 billion, Wembley £3/4 billion, Holyrood around £1/2 billion, new NHS IT System £31 billion [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3613516.stm]. To 'save' a few tens of millions is relative pittance;

To those who have not yet visited Bentley Priory, make the pilgrimage to Dowding's Room now before it's too late. I'm sure Sir Dowding would thank you Gordon for your 'financial prudence'.

Major thread drift here but £31bn on NHS computers!!!!! I cannot begin to conceive that amount of money being spent on computers by an organization. For that amount of money you could buy every single person in the UK a reasonably good new desktop computer. To look at it another way, that's the best part of £1000 per taxpayer on NHS computers alone. Good Lord! They must have the same contractors that the MoD uses.

Unsurprising, but sad and annoying to see that, as usual, the RAF bares the brunt of the defence estate selloff.:*

To put it in perspective, Farnborough was rebuilt by it's new leaseholder after years of neglect by MOD for a cost of 65 million, so what do they propose to waste the extra money on?
