Hi you all, I am new to the board. I just graduated from Toronto and I am back to HK now. I would like to apply for the Cathay Cadet Pilot Programme but ther is one question that I am really concern about is " Do I need to know how to swim inorder to become a pilot? if so will there be a swimming test during the interview?"

Thank you very much if someone can answer my question.

Yes the interview will be conducted in the pool so don't forget your cossie!

Suggest you try the 'Fragrant Harbour wannabe' section.....

So take lessons and learn! You will have to demonstrate swimming ability and ability to handle a passenger liferaft in water. Do you really think it fair on your potential passengers to be a complete failure to help anybody in the event of a ditching? You can solve it easily- go to a gym and enrol in swimming lessons.

As bizarre as this is, there is no requirement to be able to swim unaided.

The test: 3 lengths of the pool, wearing a life jacket!

The test is not part of the selection. You will do it as part of youre initial conversion after returning from Adelaide.

That said...go get swimming lessons anyway. You never know when it may save your life or someone elses!
