Hi im just curious about what instructors around australia and new zealand are getting payed, i hear rumours of instructors in australia being paid $50 ph and alike at aeroclubs, it all seems a bit out there seeing where i work in nz instructors are paid between minimum wage (about 9.50) and $11 an hour.

Please dont take this as a whinge about pay or anything, im just curious :)

From memory, I started out on $10 per flying hour as a junior instructor, $15 once I had 200 hours instructing. Made it very hard to live off when for the first 2 months I did less than 20 hrs total.

Never got paid to sit there and answer phones, sell avgas, deal with all the aeroclub committee members etc etc. Got free internet though.

I instruct part-time and get $20 per flight hour. I get nothing for sitting around drinking coffee and talking crap, if I did I'd be rolling in it! It does vary from place to place though could range from $10 per flight hour to $40 per hour. Some clubs pay a (minimal) daily rate too.

Cant remember pays exactly but award was around 20 - 30 dollars an hour for grade 3 increasing with grades. I only got jobs with companies that paid award and refused others, as grade 1 ME-IFR instructor I was on around 42k about 5 years ago. Hope that helps. If you choose to work for any old company you could get paid as low as $10 or so per hour I guess.

$42/hr for G3 casual, no briefings or ground time paid for, no pay unless you fly.

Under the Award you should get paid for a minimum of 2 hours if your duty time is less than 4 hours, and a mininmum of 4 hours if you do over 4 hours duty. This is in Oz.

$55 per hour for GA training, $35 per hour for Ultralight training, $15 per hour supervised solo for either. Less tax, plus 9% super.

3-hour exam supervision $100 in the pocket;
2-hour exam supervision $50 in the pocket.

Nothing for briefings, and by the time I have done all that, done the paperwork and cancelled lessons because of poor weather I still only average about $10 per hour after tax. :{

This rarely happens!! Especially if working for a smaller flying school. This is in Oz
I was on similar pay to what others mentioned. $32 per flight hour. No fly No pay! All breifings, making calls, answering phone calls, handing out flyers (no pun intended) all done without pay!!
My 2 cents

I thought instructors didn't bother with the pay thing.

Just did it for the love of it. :confused:
