Can anybody explain the jointery aspect of the Joint Helicopter Command? - to me it seems to be a spineless organisation that justifies the existance of outdated and under-performing useless Army Air Corps assets.

to me it seems to be a spineless organisation that justifies the existance (sic) of outdated and under-performing useless Army Air Corps assets.

Your evidence, laughingboy?

Or are you simply complaining about the fact that your customer is in the driving seat?

unless i'm very much mistaken the AAC is so far behind the front line that they need satellite imagery to view it!
Please explain to me the cutting edge work that the AAC has undertaken in the operational theatres of Iraq and Afghanistan - apart form the raft of useless staff officers that they deploy to these theatres.

You clearly need to look deeper, young laughingboy, at whom it is you and your ilk turn out for. The customer, whether his short-term planning looks odd to you or otherwise, is still going to be the one who you must serve.

Was it ever thus?

Looks like laughingboy is sending the fishing fleet out.

9/10 for effort
2/10 for content

Has your missus buggered off with a dashing AAC type? Would explain the recent threads and posts on the AAC.

What's cutting edge about humping and dumping?

It always seemed a nonsense to me that SH was operated by the RAF to work for the Army. I know that the AAC have always been determined never to lose attack helicopters to the RAF and thus were prepared to not go after SH. Fighting one's own corner at the expense of the greater good has resulted in the fudge we have today. Quite well covered in Lewis Pages recent book,"Lions, Donkeys and Dinosaurs". Written in a populist style (obviously wants to sell loads) but does highlight some monumental cock ups and waste in defence.

More pertinent to this thread, you're quite right, why on earth is there a JOINT Helicopter Command when the RAF should have nothing to do with helicopters bar a few comms squadrons and CSAR assets.

Maybe its time the RAF gave up support helecopter to the Navy and the Army? The Principle users

WG13 - You shouldn't credit him for a having fishing fleet when clearly he's having trouble getting his worm on the hook.

I'm guessing:

1. Boring day guarding a main gate somewhere;
2. As you suggest, AAC NCO Porn star issuing free Bratwurst somewhere;
3. New Broadband subscription and no Myspace friends to write to;

or finally,

4. He's the new Director of Army Aviation and wants to have an unofficial poll of attitudes.

It makes southside look like the pinnacle of charm, wit, and sophisticated banter.
