I am looking for a programme (obviously 'freeware' preferred!) to enable capture of a whole web site page as a jpeg/gif/etc. Anyone know of one?

You could just do ctrl + print screen and then paste and save the images using any imaging utility, such as Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com). It might take several screens' worth, but it's the quickest way I can immediately think of.

Just press ctrl and print screen (top right on yr keyboard, above the numbers keypad), then open Irfanview, and click Edit, Paste, or ctrl+V. Save that image, scroll down on the web page and repeat as reqd.

If you need to capture more than one page, try HTTrack (http://www.httrack.com), or search for 'offline browser'. They download the whole website.

Used HTTrack for some years. Apart from helping you make handy website templates, its very useful for saving time on line if you're on a dial up. It'll download other pages on the site while you're reading the front page live. Then you can log-off and view the rest off-line - although it doesn't follow off-site links.

Beware of trying to use it on sites like CNN or the BBC though. Unless you have a very large hard disk... :ooh:

In your browser - well if it is MSIE - go to view source.

It will provide you with the whole HTML for the page.

Highlight and copy then past either into a word processor or if you have web building software like Dreamweaver and save it.

And how's that going to give you an image capture of a whole webpage?

Macs have a utility called 'Paparazzi' (http://www.derailer.org/paparazzi/), which does exactly what you're looking for, but I'm not sure if there is a PC equivalent..may be worth asking around. I'll ask for you as well and let you know if I come up with anything. Good luck.

UPDATE: found this (http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm) from Faststone - freeware too, so worth a try :ok:
