The building of the second terminal continues with much chaos groundside.

It is taking up to 45 minutes to access the airport via the Spur road from the A7(N340). A new one way system is in operation, which means to access arrivals you need to travel to the roundabout at the cargo terminal, then come back on yourself. However there is no facility for picking people up any longer. The cops will not allow it. There is a similar situation on departures level, where entry to the former drop down area is restricted to coaches and taxis only, being overseen by two security guards and the cops will not allow you to stop anywhere else.
Entry and Exit for coaches using the coach park is now immediatly adjacent to arrivals. The ground floor of the multi story carpark accross from the terminal is now for car hire companies only, as the old car hire return facility has been demolished.
A new Car Park 3 has been established, the other side of the cargo terminal, with a free bus service to and from the terminal. Unless you are lucky and find a space in the now restricted car parks 1 and 2, you have no option but to use the new car park and the bus. There are only two buses in use.
People need to allow quite a bit of extra time if going to check in or to meet people. The airport is constantly snarrled up. It is utter chaos.
It is far easier and quicker to access the airport via the rail link.

BE AWARE.

Experienced the Malaga nitemare 3 times now in the last 4 weeks. It gets worse. Also the short term Car Park P1 has had a price increase (nothing compared to the UK) mind u. If flying from this airfield general advice is to use the off airfield parking facilities which are still good value altho you now need to go around the one way system described in post above and make your way around the diggers...and trucks...and dust to car parks....most have a sign or two to confirm you are i n the right direction. Question is did no one actually think about the potential of snarl up before investing in some 700 million euros
in this airport? I shudder to think what it will be like from Easter onwards!!

Arrived back last night, after being away 3 full days to find the car park entrance had changed again for something even more chaotic! To enter the car park, you must cross the cars trying to leave it and vice versa! No one wants to give way.

The delays in the work, as the car parks should have been almost finished by now, are not down to the contractors or Aena. Work stopped as there was no concrete, sand or agregates for an 8/10 week period at the turn of the year, when the major of Alhurin closed the quarries down there, claiming they had no licences! Other building projects on the Costa are also running behind because of this one person.
