Heard a rumour they have leased an MD-11F. Anyone know where and when they are likely to make a revenue earning flight?

Has anyone seen the aeroplane they have leased or is it just a rumour?

Surely someone must know something...?

That article was written in July last year and referred to Sept/Oct of the same year.
May be the company is waiting for something like this (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0972418/M/) before starting.
The aircraft (47843) according to this site (http://www.taxiways.de/DC-10/index.html) was delivered to Rotor Trade Inc. which happens to have an office in Italy

Yes, there is a wet-leased MD11F and I believe it has come from Gemini Air Cargo.

The first DC10-30F is imminently taking to the air, ex Nimes.

Now relax!!

Where are they going to find a MD11F? There is none available on the market. I know Delta still has one or two but the belly doors are not large enough for a standard pallet.

And MD11F is a great A/C but requires heavy maintenance. If you have a bunch of 5, fine but just one or two.

A big challenge anyway

Have heard that they took delivery of their DC10F today.
www.cargoitalia.it
nice site (honestly) but where does it state they have even one plane all i see is
The new company will be based at Milan Malpensa, central airport for Italian air traffic, from which Cargoitalia will operate with a fleet of DC10-30F and MD11S-F “all-cargo” aircraft.
well yes they ARE based in MXP and their staff (ground)is basically not doing much (last time over there their passes did not allow them to go anywhere but in their own offices , not even the cantine , as for planes ??????

Slats :
the guys on the italian forum are talking about a plane on may 10th now something i had found on the forums and seems has disapeared now (but i printed it out so with a bit of luck it's somewhere under one of my piles of filth on my desk) stated something like 2700 € for an CPT plus more details i do not remember about but weren't really a "deal" unless you are a pariah in charge of litter removal in some remote indian town, but i will come back with more if i find the info, as for the rest ...... a good advice wait a bit longer (if you can and want) and observe before you join them

Update : ok found it (it hadn't disappeared after all , have to work on my paranoia a bit i'm afraid )

You are right. That was my intention anyway. No stress as I'm already on the MD11. :)

From this website (http://www.taxiways.de/DC-10/index.html) it appears the aircraft will be reregistered to I-CGIA (http://mitglied.lycos.de/McDonnellDouglas/335-CGI-I-CGIA.jpg)
