In Africa using an FAA License should be nothing more than short term.
A validation is required based on the FAA license and has to be the equivalent of what would be required to fly on an SA License. ie. Multi Engine Land IFR, signed off in the aircraft.
Validations in SA are issued for the life of the FAA medical currently held.
