On our way back after a flight last night we passed an airbridge that had apparently collapsed. It was around bays F3-5 and there was a EK B777standing on the bay. Does anyone know what happened as it looked pretty serious with the whole area cordoned off and police photographers etc busy. It appeared that the whole end unit, the part that attaches to the a/c had fallen off and collapsed face down on the tarmac. If there was anyone inside it they would have been seriously hurt if not worse as it was fairly well crumpled up.

Yes, someone was in the airbridge driving it to the aircraft. A few broken bones, but other than that she (the dispatcher) is OK.

 Was there only one injury? How did it happen? What went wrong?

I hear it was F3. Wasn't it in a NOTAM with regard to certain types of Aircraft being unsuitable for this bay?

Maybe the whole assembly fell off the rollers extending too far?

How did it happen? What went wrong?I am not knowing :uhoh:

I am pushing button :uhoh: bridge is moving :uhoh: falling happen Boss... :uhoh:

How did it happen? How do these things usually happen????

What is known is that someone must be blamed and it will be someone uneducated and near to the bottom because **** flows only one way in the ME.

No matter how big the airline gets, ass-covering is an efficiency which will never be lost.
