Who in Japan actually? Airline or Banking interests?

The Boss of JAL has just retired in apology, after some safety concerns.

JAS was taken over by JAL last year, when it was down on its luck.

ANA seems to carry on as normal. Those are the big three.

In my experience the Japanese tend to be conservative. This would be a big thing for them to consider.

Well i was on a trip yesterday when a pax mentioned it to me. Didn't give it much credit until i saw a cartoon in the mail showing a BA jet with "Blitish Airways" written on the side with a comment about it being purchased?

Thats all i know and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me further?

(BOAC - wondered where my other thread went!)

AFAIK JAL are on the point of being announced as the latest member of OneWorld. Could there be some confusion?

The cartoon in question was in response to other purchases by Japanese interests and was meant to be ironic (i.e was meant to show how unthinkable a Japanese purchase of BA was).

So basically this rumour has started because someone doesn't understand humour:hmm:
