Anyone give any info on what its like working for them ??

Had posted this in the 'terms' section, so I have latched onto this post

Any word on entrance requirements; minimum time, SSTR on the B200 necessary? Any word on pay and conditions, especially any guys up in Scotland flying the Air Ambulance?

No formal entrance requirements or minimum hours.
They pay for the TR and bond you for 2 years.
Salary is by negotiation. FOs start at approx £19,000. £20,000+ if you have a bit more experience and can drive a hard bargain.
Bigger variations in the captain salaries though. £30,000+.
Four weeks holiday a year.
Work a "10 hour day", 3 duty periods per day, some overlap, to ensure 24/7 roster cover at Aberdeen.
Slightly different at Glasgow though, 2 x 12 hour duties each day.

No minimum time requirement - for some of the new fo's its their first job.
No SSTR - but a fairly hefty £16.6K 2 year bond.
Pay for fo's 18-22k depending on experience, Capt's 34-38K.
Normal pension, death in service, private medical etc. 28 calender days leave.
Brand new aircraft with Proline 21. The flying is as good as it gets but don't bank on many hours - about 350 a year.
Glasgow base is a 2 x 12 hour shift system on home standby. Aberdeen is a 3 x 10 hour (2 hour overlap) on airport standby .
We currently seem to be fully crewed for the new contract (lots of recent new hires) but their is bound to be some people move on over time.

Flugtak tells it how it is.
For some reason FI hours are not counted as valued experience, but Safety Pilot (Pilot's assistant) hours in a single pilot operation carry more weight when negotiating pay. Rostering could be better; it usually comes out 3-4 days before start of the next roster period. Would suggest paying for your own rating at Flightsafety if offered a job on the Kingair, as the bond is pretty extortionate, and am pretty sure it would come to less than £17k.

Great flying, with good variation. Couldn't really fault the flying part of the job, pity about the pay and conditions though.

No known vacancies on the Air Ambulance at the moment.

Bad news is @ Gla, work 3 days,3 nights,rest and 2 days off ! (72 hrs of stby per wk.) This is a 2 shift system....0700 till 1900, 1900 till 0700.
This can lead to some very long fdp's.
Good news is it's the best flying anywhere in the UK !

How does it work with the bond set up?Do you get the loan and they pay it off(in your name)with a commitment/contact to work for that company for in this case two years?

Bond is simlpy a signed agreement with the company for £16.6K, depreciating monthly for 2 years. No money is required up front. No bank loan in your name. How enforceable ? who knows, but remember its a small world.
