Does anyone have any info on the proposed new airport for Antequera, north of Malaga? Nothing in the archive yet.
Thanks, BR

BR,

I drove past what I think is the site the other day, and thought the same thing. The area around there is generally quite hilly, but my understanding is that the existing flying club would be expanded to take commercial flights, presumably as a reliever for AGP, as well as to attract more people into the area.

The site I am referring to is on the N331 about 5 miles north of the city, where the land is very flat.

Unsuprisingly, any airport plan usually tends to get the objectors shouting most loudly, and the link below has the local greens talking about how the site is only 50k from Malaga.....

http://www.elsoldeantequera.com/principal/pagina.php?seccion1=Noticias&seccion2=Antequera - has an article about the future plans, suggesting that the land in this area is not very agriculturally productive.

The following is in English - http://www.andalucia.com/news/cdsn/2005-03-16.htm

I also think there are long term plans to expand ODB, which is already trying to gear up for city of culture in................................
