Senior Grade 3 Grade 2 Wage ????

There seems to be a great reluctance by some schools to employ Grade 2 instructors in preference to Senior Grade 3s. Don't they know that once an instructor has 300 hours they have to pay him Grade 2 wages anyway??? Or have I got it wrong??

I don't know if that is the case - there are a number of flights Grade 2s can complete that Grade 3s cannot i.e. send a student solo.

You have to pay the Grade 2 wage if the only reason the Grade 3isn't getting it is because they don't have the requisite nav/ab initio time. If the reason is because they are not ready for the responsibilities of the Gr2 or they don't qualify time wise -then no. (We currently have a Gr3 with 400 hours instructing but his 6 months isn't up for another 7 weeks yet)
