Eastern have pulled off MAN - STN and have increased capacity on LBA -ABZ by introducing J41 aircraft.

They must have a lot of new routes up their sleeve! From my calculations they have another 6 J41's due into service (G-MAJT is now in service).

Possibly T3, as BE announce twice daily services NWI-MAN. See BE's website for the press release... (apologies to mods for clogging up the forum with announcement post yesterday, I've learnt my lesson)

On Eastern's Route Map on their Home Page it has Inverness-Durham Tees Valley.

Is this a New route?

I think they meant to put LBA-INV on instead

Appears T3 have scared off BE from the NWI-ABZ route?

Somebody reporting that it is no longer bookable.

Anyone confirm?

On Flybe's site from Aberdeen it only gives you Belfast City, and from Norwich it doesn't give you Aberdeen......so it seems that Eastern have scared them off! :) Nice one Eastern!! ;)

Must be T3's imminent upgade to SB20 on the NWI-ABZ route that has done for BE !

As BE forced T3 off Belfast-ABZ last year, the score is 1 - 1 ;-)

Have to say was surprised BE wanted to compete with T3 & BD, never thought there was enough passengers for 3 carriers.

NWI-ABZ had the longest lead-in time/advertising campaign for a route I can remember up here ! Was advertised for months, perhaps people couldn't be bothered waiting.

It's currently 2-1 to Flybe, they pushed Eastern off NWI-EDI :(

I meant 1-1 in relation to ABZ routes, but yes you're right. This is why the SB20s are being reintroduced onto NWI-ABZ.

The freq on NWI-ABZ was upped from 3 to 4 rotations M-F when JS41s originally replaced the SB20s. Wonder if T3 will readjust back to 3 when the Saabs are back.

They are keeping ABZ-NWI at 4x daily with the Saab 2000's :D

I think BE will be using the aircraft planned for NWI-ABZ for the twice daily NWI-EDI.

I don't think this development has anything sinister about it, I would think that BE and T3 have talked about the routes, BE was given the EDI and T3 was given ABZ. BE would not have pulled off the ABZ without a fight, so it appears that something more amicable has been afoot.

Aberdeen is reaching capacity at peak times with not enough stands being available. Not uncommon nowadays when busy, to wait for a stand to become vacant! Aircraft are now sometimes being parked in remote areas and passengers bussed which is new.

Extra capacity needs to be created before any extra routes are announced. Even with the expansion that has been announced - the extra 2 stands that have been rumoured will not be a long-term fix!
