Ummm. Another little irritation which you can't scratch!

When I click on a link lately the opened page is not full size and I have to click the box in the top right hand corner to get it so.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening? Thanks.

Instead of clicking the box to give you full size, drag on the corners to the size you want, and leave it like that. It should work.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening?I think that when you close down your browser, it stores some display settings including the window size when it's not maximised. It also stores whether you want to open the browser with maximised windows. Sometimes a web page resets those settings while you're browsing, and so your stored preferences get messed up with you next close down the browser.
Although I've got no idea of the technicalities, I find that something like this often works:-

Open your browser window, seeing it aggravatingly small.
Drag the window all the way to the top left hand corner of the screen, then drag the bottom right hand corner of the window to fill the screen.
Close the browser.
Open the browser again, and click the "square" button in the top right hand corner to maximise the window (or double click the title bar, which is often faster). The window should maximise (although it may look little different from before as you've already manually changed the size of the window in the previous step).
Close the browser.
Open the browser again, when it should be back to how you like it. And even if it isn't, the non-maximised size of the window will actually be close enough to please.

I may have misled you. When I first open IE6 it is fine and stays fine all day! When I open a link from with IE6 - any link - the screen downsizes - but ONLY the new page. I have tried all the above suggestions but nothing works so far.

I seem to remember this problem was once a subject many moons ago.

I have tried all the above suggestions but nothing works so far.It sounds to me like when you first open IE, it's opening maximised - the middle button of the three in the top right hand corner will have two overlapping squares rather than a single square. But the non-maximised window size (whatever it's technically called) is currently stored as the smaller size that you mention.

Try it like this:-
Open IE, which gives you a full size window.
Open a link from that window, to give you the smaller window you don't like.
Close the first (full size) window.
Then resize the second window as above.
Then close the second window.
That may reset the non-maximised size when you next open IE.

But if it doesn't, then I'm afraid my knowledge (such as it is) is exhausted.

Do the above, but then close it by the File menu

Thank you very much Globaliser and Loose. That did it. After maximising the window I closed it by the file exit. NOT the red cross as I usually do.

Thanks again.

You could try installing IE New Window Maximizer from here (http://www.jiisoft.com/iemaximizer/) - I've used it for a number of years on 98/98SE/XPPro with no problems. It's freeware (or donationware), and it does just what the name implies.
