Hello Folks,
I am thinking of an ATR type rating and want to gauge what job options there would be. I am a low hours JAA frozen ATPL holder from the UK.
There seem to be several airlines in India flying ATR's but is it possible for me to gain employment there? Personally i think it would be a great experience but I have heard that it is Captains only in terms of ex-pat recruitment, but I have also heard that it would be possible for me to be hired for one year. Whats the truth?
Thanks folks....

Whoever told you that is giving you a load of bull . Right now Its only Foreign Capts in India ... All F/O's are local or have the right to live and work in India .Its the law that one person on board muct be an Indian citizen .

refer http://dgca.nic.in CAR section

If you can do that and you have an Indian passport then the skys the limit . . .right now Air Deccan , Jet Airways and Alliance air are the only current ATR type operators in India . Kingfisher has placed a huge order for the same type but thats about it

Good luck
