SO Commuting

Hello All,
Could anyone advise if it is possible to commute from SYD as an SO or is it mandatory that one must live in HKG when employed as an SO?Also what sort of roster do SO's operate on, how many days off in between trips how many trips per month, trip length etc?

I’m guessing you are a Brit. Do you have right of abode in Australia? If you don’t I suggest you would need to apply for a multiple entry tourist visa. They are for stays of 3 or 6 months and valid generally for 12 months from date of issue. The down side is you probably won’t be granted any extension or a new one once it expires. Commuting is possible as an SO even though I didn’t do it when I was one. You will generally fly about three long hauls a month which vary from 3 - 5 days in length with about 5 - 7 days off in between.
