Correct,Economy on upper deck,First in the nose,Business aft of that then more economy behind.Nice layout that makes you feel you're on a 737 upstairs!

You're welcome to it. Upstairs is the noisiest place to be on a 74. :\

Well said - whovever thinks its cool to wlk up the stairs to your seat must be partly deaf. Take your earplugs. Service will be better though - normally the cutest two hosties work the upper deck ( cause thats where us drivers requested them ) and there will be a better attendant to pax ratio than below.

It is noisier but the smaller numbers of pax and the size of cabin make it almost worthwhiel to go Y. :=

As a pax, I enjoy the upstairs. Better hostie/pax ratio and if you sit in the front row (or 2 or 3), you get some extra legroom, elbowroom and storage space. Noise not much of a problem, you get used to it. Can't see the TV too well, but then, nothing much worth seeing :E

Added bonus: I get to ambush the flightcrew when they take a look-see out the cockpit and have a chat :ok:

Now why would I; a Souf Effrican; dream of working for SAA??? When I can live in a foreign country, try my best to not piss off foreign captains, get foreign crew meals, sit around in foreign hotel rooms, never see braaivleis etc etc etc. Must be the hosties that are better looking at foreign carriers...
