Aer Arann announces new Galway Liverpool service for summer 2006

8th February 2006, Aer Arann, Ireland’s premier regional airline, today announced that it will launch a new service from Galway Airport to Liverpool for the summer season, effective from 10th April 2006. This will be the airlines sixth route from Galway adding to existing services to and from Dublin, London Luton, Manchester, Edinburgh and Lorient, South Brittany.
The Galway to Liverpool service will operate four days per week, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday departing Galway at 10.15am and Liverpool at 12.00 noon with a flight time of one hour fifteen minutes. The service will be operated by a 66 seater ATR72 aircraft.
This latest announcement follows the recent decision by the airline to purchase ten new aircraft over the next three-year period to support its route development strategy.
Commenting on the announcement Micheal O' Callarain, Marketing Manager, Aer Arann said "Today's announcement represents another important milestone in Aer Arann's growth from Galway Airport. Liverpool is emerging as a premier UK destination with a rich and diverse heritage, thriving nightlife and unbeatable shopping. It is an ideal touring base for England's Northwest and we look forward to developing this new route in the coming months."
Galway Airport Chairman, Michael Corless welcomed the announcement by Aer Arann that they are to commence a Liverpool service. “This will be the fourth UK service operated by Aer Arann from Galway Airport, offering additional choice to the passenger. Direct air access is critical to the economy of the city, county and the West of Ireland. This latest route development is a further boost to Galway's business and leisure sectors, and is a continuation of the airports commitment to developing convenient, city-to-city connections. I would like to congratulate Padraig O'Ceidigh and his team at Aer Arann on their on-going commitment to expanding air services from Galway Airport and wish him and Aer Arann continuing success”.
