Dear Sirs,

My name is Ernest Mezak. I am a correspondent of the Komi regional newspaper Zyryanskaya zhizn (http://www.zyryane.ru/)(The Zyryan Life). Currently I am working on an article about the work of Russian aviators in Africa. First of all I'm interested in the activities of Yevgeniy Zakharov the citizen of Russian, who owns and operates Aerolift (http://aerolift.org/) and Service Air airlines. The issue is that among the victims of the accident of Antonov-12 9Q-CIH aircraft (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20050108-0), which belonged to him, were 3 residents of Syktyvkar, where I live.

I would highly appreciate if you could provide me the following information, if possible:

- The official data about the circumstances and causes of the flight accident of Antonov-12 9Q-CIH aircraft, which took place near Kampala (Uganda) on January 8, 2005;

- Photographic material from Antonov-12 9Q-CIH accident site (specifically, I know that the press photographer Mike Odongkara, cooperating with the Monitor, was working at the accident site that period);

- The preliminary information about the circumstances and causes of the flight accident of Antonov-12 9Q-CER aircraft (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20060124-1), which took place in Mbuji Maya (DRC) on January 24, 2006;

- The information about the violation of ICAO rules and the national aviation rules of African countries by Aerolift и Service Air airlines;

- Analytical reports on the problems of aviation safety in the Democratic republic of Congo.

I would be extremely grateful for any help from you.

Yours sincerely,

Ernest Mezak

Latter from MysticFlyer:
Ernestik, fine timing you chose, most of us (the regular contributors to the Africa forum) is currently in a similar debate with answers pending too.
So, don't be too off put by lack of information right now, although your's is more important than ours, granted.
All the best getting a proper investigation going, it's my feeling that PPruNE used to be a great site for information sharing.
Best regards,
MysticFlyer

Dear Ernest
Well how do I Start.
I have been fying in Africa for over twenty years now. 90% accidents in Africa are Russian built Aircraft.
The ? is why.
Most are poorly maintained and should not be flying at all.
Crews takes kick backs to overload there aircraft.
THIS IS A FACT!!!!!
In DRC or Brazaville they dont even have transponder.
THIS ALSO A FACT!!!!
Unless some thing is done more people will die.
Most of the russian crews dont follow and rules of the air. they lie on the radio , such as there position. DME.
Hope something soon!!!!!!!!
good luck
