Thats a little vague Longruns. Im assuming that, somewhere in QLD, Someone, using regent, killed some bees.. am I close?? :}

Perhaps the bees did not read the label before they ate it....

Had the bees read the label before they ate it, they probably would have known that most 90% of regent applications onto flowering crops have been off label to date, fortunately the label has recently been updated to relieve this problem. Compare stock label you have in your pad to the new version on the net www.apvma.gov.au/registration/label_regent.pdf+regent+200sc&hl=en&gl=au&ct=clnk&cd=1 (http://www.apvma.gov.au/registration/label_regent.pdf+regent+200sc&hl=en&gl=au&ct=clnk&cd=1)

Application does not have to be adjacent to do this.

One bee returning to a hive from a distant crop with a dose can wipe it out.

Some operations will not even mix/load said chemical when hives are present for this reason.

:ok:

currawong is right. Regent(Fipronil)is not immediately toxic to bees and can be carried back to hives from up to 5 miles(bee foraging radious). The farmer may not even relise that hives are in the area. Alot of hives are positioned on stock-routes and this info needs to be sourced from the PP Board prior to application.;)
