After a few years of working in the Caribbean, I have a great respect for the Coast Guard and its mission. I do have a problem with advertising for Pilots and then assigning a pay grade a couple notches below what may have been held. I also understand that its a small organization in comparison to others and flooding the rank structure would hurt those in the Coast Guard who may have started on the bottom.
I think they should look at a good Warrant Officer or LDO program for Pilots. It would keep them out of the chain and into the cockpit. It has been successful in other branches........
Good Luck, Hats off to the USCG.
