Good Afternoon JB patrons.
Slightly random, but I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of skiing in Japan. Where’s good to go, where’s not good to go. Any and all advice most appreciated.
Cheers

Sumo-boy.
How are your japanese language skills?, do you like crowds?, how much time do you want to spend travelling?
North and slightly west of Morioka is really good, but you'll need to take the Shinkansen and a local train. Obviously theres the usual stuff west of Tokyo.
Hokkaido is great.
You can pm me if you want.

I have heard it's a little different from skiing in Europe. You're probably used to the European and American style where the ski runs go straight up and down the mountain. My understanding is that in Japan, the ski runs go across the mountains instead.

Not a good sport if you're sumo-sized! (jk) Don't know anything about the resorts, but I've heard the quality of the snow is a dream. Have fun!
