Wonder if someone could help me out here...

I hold a SA CPL IR/ME and the IR is due to lapse at the beginning of February.

I am now flying in Europe and hold a valid JAA ATPL.

I would like to keep my SA Licence current but am unable to make it to SA to renew before it lapses nor would it be realistic for me to return each year just to keep it current.

My question therefore is, would the SA CAA allow my SA Licence to remain current on the strength that my JAA ATPL remains current?

Your thoughts please...

Just post the SA CAA a copy of your most recent JAA flight test, a copy of your JAA medical certificate, and the appropriate fee!!!
It worked for me, but you never know! I will give them a call shorlty. Will keep you posted.:ok:

Yo SC
I visited the SA CAA some 6 months after my license lapsed, and they renewed it on the strength of my latest JAA simcheck. They also added my JAA type ratings to my SA license when I showed them the type rating course certificate.

Not sure if they accept a JAA medical (I had my SA one renewed) because a license if only valid if the relevant medical is valid - but worth a try!

How's skyshare treating you?

SC , why do you want to keep your SA licence if you got a JAA?
