 During the EK interview for the pilot selection program at the end of last year (Set,Oct,Nov) the high profile Flight Crew Recruitment Specialists of Emirates clearly stated that they will not consider again direct entry captains or fast track commands because it was a measure that was [B]very unpopular with the F/Os.[B]:{ What a surprise that immediatly in January they started advertising for DEC.
Lucky I dicided not to trust on this trustfull specialists and struggle for years:ok:Those of you with alot of hours think well before joining as F/O:cool:

Hands up everybody who has had their terms and conditions changed since they were interviewed.

It's the EK way - I asked specifically at interview if DEC's would be coming to EK and was told categorically 'no way, it's been proven to be too divisive and has no real benefits' - guess what, the first DEC turned up about a month and a half after I did! Coupled with the ' sorry, you can't have the accelerated command we promised at interview' it was a pretty big kick in the nuts.

EK promises are worthless - even if they're written down.

So you wanted to leapfrog most of the FOs here with an accelerated command but you were screwed on that promise.

Now you're pissed off because you're being leapfrogged by DECs????

Am I the only one to see the irony and selfishness in sandancer's whinging?

No - not ironic at all, they were the terms I ( and many others) were offered at interview. They had been in the FOM for quite some time without complaint.

My gripe is that I would have expected any company to honour the promises made at interview if not, I would at least have hoped that they would have informed of the impending change to the FOM to allow me to make the decision whether to come or not, sadly, then as now, there is very little integrity demonstrated by anyone in the EK management chain.

Oh, and by the way I left EK some while ago...

Desert Whine,

Couldn't agree more with Sanddancer, they were the rules in place at the time of joining, no-one complained, apart from you obviously.

Shark attack, you are very polite,"inaccurate" indeed, what you mean is that they lie thro' their teeth and with a smile on their face.....

Wouldn't trust anyone in this company as far as I could throw them..

How do you know an EK manager ( loose term ) is lying to you ............????;)

"......they were the rules in place at the time of joining,...."
This applied to DEC's just as much!!! They were told that they'd fill up spaces unable to fill from inside due to the fast arriving 340-300's.
So stop bashing them and the guy's who had been promised accelrated cmd, they were lied to just as much, some however not to their detriment.
I just wonder what they tell the newcomers, not everyone reads Pprune.

The rules, as you know 145q, are valid on the day. Today the rule is DECs and I'm sure they can validate their arrival to themselves, just as accelerated guys do.

Sanddancer was probably lied to but the principle still applies.

Yes, most, if not all, guys joined knowing all about the accelerated program but I think you'll be hard-pressed to find any of the FOs with a great deal of sympathy for him not being able to jump the queue which is full of guys who, like himself, often have ALMOST enough to jump the queue themselves.... but not quite.

But since we knew all about it everyone's going to like it???

Guys, what did you expect in this part of the world, with no unions or human rights etc.,? The truth? Come on! They have been at this game for years, if not hundreds of years.

You are camels to them, nothing more and sometimes less.
