I've developed an interest in why the GOM are so short of pilots. High oil prices and conditions of employment seem to be the major factors - the obvious issues I can determine. I knew the US consumed massive amounts of oil daily in comparison to other nations, but I had no idea of the astronomical figures. Click below and take a look at the bar for ther USA ! More and more seems to make sense.... Why the shortage guys ?

( no political statement intended - more an interest in geography )

A Per Capita comparison would be interesting.

Population of OECD Europe (2003) a little over 528 million. Population of US (2005) a hint over 300 million. Look at the top left graph, the US total usage is a little greater than OECD Europe total usage, so the per capita could be somewhere around double.

Good on the Italians and Japanese, reducing their usage.
