It's actually a replacment door, though still largely opened. After 4 flights over the course of two hours, at -18 degrees C, it was time to stop for the day, and go inside! I never seem to get these test programs on the nice summer days...

It is an absolute dream to fly.
Anglo/French - That sounds better ;)
Wood and Fabric main rotors and a DeHavilland engine ..... what more could one ask for? Second thoughts, don't answer that!:

Oh, okay, Anglo engine, French drivetrain?

8th Feb 2010, 07:17
Not sure who turned their rotors that way first but everything else about the Skeeter is English right through from the design to manufacture. Every component on the machine is english made, I doubt there are many rotary wing aircraft where that is the case.

Perhaps because of the low inertia of wood and fabric rotor blades?
Another thread perhaps?
Let us try and keep this to just pictures please :)

Do all Cessna 206 have droop ailerons, or is it just those ones with overgrown appendices?
Interesting pics anyway :ok:
Pilot DAR
18th May 2010, 21:43
The drooped ailerons on the 206 are a part of the Robertson (now Sierra Industries, I believe) STOL kit. They give a definate low speed handling advantage. During low speed flying and stall evaluations in it today, I had stable flight at speeds as low as 45 MPH CAS. A worthwhile mod, but rather expensive compared to other STOL kits, which also provide impressive low speed handling improvements.

So are you going to tell us what the weird appendages on the wings are? Cessna's first attempt at tackling the tilt-rotor market? Will it be available as an upgrade to my TR182?

A very good friend of mine Nigel owns a Piper PA28 Arrow3. G-BOYV.
He asked if me & my Wife would like to join him for some flying this weekend & the intention was to fly down to Plymouth & back but the weather wasn't looking great so on Saturday he decided to go to Halfpenny Green at Wolverhampton EGBO. The weather down was great till about 10 miles out then it rained forcing the cloud base to 1500 feet. We landed. After checking the latest weather for the area we decided to get away as it wasn't going to get any better. We departed & at 700 feet lost sight of the ground, Nigel is IMC rated which means he can fly in cloud. we didn't come out of the cloud which we transited at 3000 until about 40 miles North of Wolverhampton & flew back to Sandtoft.
On Sunday, Nigel texted me at 09.00am wanting to know if we wanted to join him on a flight to Kemble EGBP. We took off at 10.30am & climbed to 6000 feet above the cloud, the conditions were VFR all the way, we routed by Melton Mowbray to Daventry VOR then down to Kemble, 1 hour 30 Mins flying time as the aircraft flys at 160 knots. We landed & had a cuppa & were treated to a short display by a Spitfire which landed.
Nigel said i could fly back which i was grateful to him, I had never flown a complex before so had only observed on previous flight acting as Co-Pilot & Navigator.
I flew back at 6000 feet VFR from the right hand seat, (Nigel was PIC as it's his aircraft) above cloud Avoiding Silverstone as the Red Arrows were doing a display there & flew similar route back to Sandtoft EGCF where we are based i really enjoyed the experience.
Gillian, my wife took all the aerial photo's & i took all the ground photo's.
Many thanks to Nigel for the invite & the 5 hours flying this weekend.
