I am a student setting out to design an aircraft that will be powered by alternative fuels. I hope to gain any opinion on this problem, in terms of the viable market sectors (no. of seats, range, cruise altitude and cruise speed), and any aircrafts that would be a good benchmark to work against.

Do you consider alcohol ? (that's more for AG Flying specialists !).

Try there, it's all about BioDiesel - you could use it in any turbine powered a/c with very little modification to either the ground-based fuel systems, or those on the aircraft itself. Also, if you troll around on the University of North Dakota's website, there might be something there about Bio. I had an essay written by two profs there, about using BioD in a Citation of some sort, but can't seem to find the link..

Thanks guys, I'll look into that, though I was wondering if the GA sector is a better market to enter than the business one, since the aquisition cost of the aircraft is going to be a lot lower for the former.

p.s. Yes FlexJet, I'm at Purdue at the moment.
