Indian news channels are reporting that Jet Airways has bought out Ais Sahara for $500 million. Air Sahara will now cease to exist as a brand.
Jet will now command about a 50% market share... A monopoly in Indian skies again?

I think we will be seeing a lot of consolidation in the India market over the next few years, the place is expanding like there is no tomorrow!
This new combined airline will hopefully give the kick in the teeth that the state runs need to improve service and do some logical expansion!

Sorry to see this. I've flown Jet and they are really first class. I hope they can get their license into to the states. Unfortunately the airline world is full of wreckage that over expanded. IMHO swallowing competitors rarely works. Growing your own resources takes a lot of time but in the end you have control over your product and your costs. Getting into a monoploy situation is really a kiss of death too, lets you loose your focus. Something about airplanes just seems to make sane people do stupid things.
