Make sure if Googling, that you put Submarines as opposed to Subs. I was looking for a picture of the Typhoon last year for a spoof for my boating comrades, but was led to all sorts of surprising sites.

Try googling with the 'images' button for ssn and ssbn. It amazing what the tubes will do for a run ashore.http://web.umr.edu/~rogersda/military_service/Trepang%20surfacing%20in%20ice_sm.jpg

Try www.hazegray.org/. Not an official site but has stacks of pics from all over the place. It is produced by a very knowledgeable guy.

All my sub pics taken from a Nimrod window whilst sitting on the HF T/R are on 35 mm negs. I do not have a clue where they are at the moment without turning the house upside down, sorry. Not having a scanner does not help.

Beags - is that something to do with the popular modern beat combo group, the Beatles? Did one of the younger chaps put you up to such tomfoolery?

Well I never - shock news - Beags finds sense of humour under tartan rug! ;)

Yes. One understands that there was indeed a song entitled "Yellow Submarine" popularised by some popular beat - or was it skiffle - group.

Sense of humour? Well, it's Thursday and time for Nurse Cuddlesome's dainty and well-practised little fingers to give one the weekly blanket bath! In fact, just thinking about it makes me.....:ugh: !

cornwallis
19th Jan 2006, 09:10
No i am not a spy but i do watch spooks.I have been driving aeroplanes for almost 20 years.I have recently been accused of being a beachbaron for the amount of time i spend in the maldives.Double dolphin were you or are you still in the trade?

Aren't the pictures taken from MPAs etc classified... they're certainly crown property. If you are bona-fide researcher (even an amateur one) why not obtain them from official sources, why rely on PPRuNe?

Military Aircrew A forum for the professionals who fly the non-civilian hardware, and the backroom boys and girls without whom nothing would leave the ground. Army, Navy and Airforces of the World, all equally welcome here....

Where do Submarines fit in here then?? :E :E :E

To act as MPA targets, of course!

That's MPA as in Maritime Patrol Aircraft, nothing to do with Base Aerea Gringo (aka RAF Mount Pleasant).

Sorry i missed the billy blue reference.This is another of my pen names.Sir william cornwallis 1744-1817 was famous for his retreat from a superior french force down the channel.This action is record as A battle honour in the RN.Why submarines on pprune,well i do believe that certain nations use aircraft to hunt them!
Naval historian ,member of the society for Nautical Research and you will find me on the naval review website as icarus.Why bother with official sources as they only give out the standard publicity shots.I hope this covers you reservations:}
