Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help my daughter, she is presently at Collage studying I.A.T (Introduction to Air Travel) her tutor who is B.A cabin crew has set her the task of finding the pre flight safety brief that is given prior to take off. Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Hi There RD. The preflight brief (aka Safety Demo) varies from airline to airline, but will always include the following info:

1) Location, operation and required wearing of seatbelt
2) Location and operation of life jacket
3) Location and operation of oxygen mask
4) Location of (and in some airlines the operation of) emergency exits
5) Location of any emergency lighting that will help guide pax to emergency exits in the event of lost cabin lighting
6) That particular airlines rules around use of certain electronic equipment and mobile phones
7) Location of, and drawing the pax attention to, the 'Safety Card' - a card which basically contains most of the vital info covered in the Safety Demo, but in clear, language-barrier crossing pictures (very helpful for any pax who require a specialised briefing, or who have loss of/diffculty hearing)

These are pretty much the basic points that I would imagine all airlines cover (I hope anyway! :O ). From there, you have points such as stowage of cabin baggage, stowage of blankets/duvets/pillows if required, stowage of foot rest...

Thats all I can think of at this very point in time (although after having spent last night in the hospital with a crewmember I am exhausted and hoping I have not left anything out!!)

...also that it's a federal crime to: Not comply with posted signs and crew members instructions regarding safety....to smoke anywhere on the A/C.... and to tamper with the smoke detectors in the lavs.
